This module will explore various facets of this intersection between Native American culture and veterinary medicine. By exploring respectful language and cultural awareness, client engagement techniques, and how to build an inclusive practice, we will explore best practices for inclusivity and equity for both clients and colleagues. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Be able to identify respectful terminology for and about Native Americans and know which terms to avoid.
  2. Discuss common myths about Native Americans and be able to dispel misconceptions with empathy and data. 
  3. Describe methods for building connections to Native Americans and several ways to build inclusive or inviting practices for Native people.
